Dark Star Pictures is a new-age North American distribution company, focused on bringing unique and targeted content to audiences across the country. We are committed to releasing auteur-driven, original cinema in the theatrical, digital and home video space. Our goal is to create original marketing campaigns directly catered to audiences who will embrace our brand of thought-provoking cinema. Dark Star also services distribution companies and producers in the theatrical, digital, and festival space.
A graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Michael Repsch has distributed over 200 films to date. As the SVP of Distribution & Sales at Breaking Glass Pictures, Michael strategically managed the digital, festival, and theatrical releases on all films on the domestic front.
Michael launched his new venture Dark Star Pictures at the American Film Market in November of 2017, with the company's first commercial release in February of 2018.
Some of his distribution highlights include Larry Clark's Marfa Girl, Xavier Dolan's Laurence Anyways, genre king Larry Cohen's auto-biographical documentary King Cohen, SXSW winner and highly controversial Assholes, alternative rom-com Entanglement starring Thomas Middleditch, Cannes bowing thriller Mobile Homes starring Imogen Poots, an homage to Rear Window in South African SXSW hit Number 37 and the mockumentary style expose into industrial China with Tribeca debutant Ghostbox Cowboy.
